Revitalising the Heritage of the Atlantic Coast
The paper provides guidance on the rediscovery, regeneration and reanimation of the Atlantic Coast’s
cultural heritage assets
The Atlantic Coast of Europe is abundant with cultural heritage assets relating to maritime, military and industrial activity. Over time, assets come to be disused, at risk or lost entirely, compromising our connection with the past.
CBA have been commissioned to write an international White Paper for the revitalisation and valorisation of Maritime, Military and Industrial Heritage of the Atlantic Coast (MMIAH) as part of the Interreg Atlantic Area programme.
The paper will present a best practice and help to guide cities with MMIAH to rediscover, conserve, reinvigorate and reuse redundant and at risk maritime, military and industrial heritage assets, supporting tourism and social and economic cultural regeneration.
The White Paper is based a review of strategic plans from partner cities including, Cádiz, Caen, Cork, Ferrol, Liverpool, Ílhavo, La Rochelle, Limerick and Plymouth and will provide a toolkit for future projects in the Atlantic area and beyond, strengthening the network along the Atlantic Coast and drawing international tourism and growth and engaging local communities.
The team were also appointed by Liverpool Growth Platform to create the strategic plans for Liverpool that will contribute to the development of the White Paper.
